Learn about the Venezuelan crisis:

Venezuela is going through an extraordinary humanitarian and political crisis, where millions of people are still suffering every day. Families face hunger, lack of medicine, and the collapse of basic services under a corrupt and repressive government. Many have been forced to leave their homes in search of safety and dignity, creating one of the largest migrations in the world. This tragedy continues to unfold before the eyes of the international community, demanding urgent action and solidarity.

Questions to understand this situation:

Why is the Nicolás Maduro’s regime a dictatorship?

The Nicolás Maduro’s regime is a dictatorship because it concentrates all political power in his hands, eliminating checks and balances. Independent institutions such as the judiciary, the National Electoral Council, and the legislature have been systematically controlled or dismantled to silence opposition. Elections under his rule lack transparency, with widespread reports of fraud, censorship, and intimidation of voters and candidates. Through repression, imprisonment, and violence against protesters, Maduro has destroyed democratic freedoms and turned Venezuela into an authoritarian state.

What human crimes has the regime done?

The Nicolás Maduro regime has committed widespread human rights violations against the Venezuelan people. Security forces have carried out extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, and torture of political opponents and protesters. The government has used hunger and access to basic services as tools of political control, punishing those who dissent. Independent media and journalists have been censored, persecuted, or forced into exile, silencing truth and accountability. These crimes, documented by the United Nations and international organizations, amount to crimes against humanity carried out to maintain Maduro’s grip on power.

Does this affects everyone outside of Venezuela?

The Maduro regime’s corruption, narcotrafficking, and ties to terrorism affect the entire world, not only Venezuela. Government officials have worked with criminal groups that traffic drugs and fund violent organizations, spreading instability across Latin America and beyond. This network fuels violence, poverty, and migration, creating suffering that crosses borders and impacts global security. When a government operates through crime and fear, it threatens the values of freedom and justice everywhere. It matters to everyone, Venezuelans or not, to stand against this system of oppression and defend the right to live in peace and dignity.

Why is important to fight the regime?

It is important to fight the Maduro regime because remaining silent allows injustice, corruption, and violence to continue destroying innocent lives. Millions of Venezuelans have been forced to flee their country, while those who stay suffer hunger, censorship, and fear. Standing against this dictatorship means defending human dignity, truth, and the right of every person to live freely. The fight is not only for Venezuela’s future but for the values of democracy and justice that protect all nations.
